Seu Jorge ended his North American tour Saturday with a concert at Club Nokia in downtown L.A., but those in the know flocked to West Hollywood’s Palihouse Friday night for a more intimate performance. Liz Goldwyn, Tara Subkoff, and blogger Taryn Cox—“I love Seu Jorge!”—came for the impromptu private concert by the Brazilian musician and his band, Almaz. The mastermind behind the sound track to Wes Anderson’s The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, who recently released the self-titled album Seu Jorge and Almaz, kept the crowd, including jewelry designer Loree Rodkin, moving to his Brazilian pop samba. Even Seu Jorge’s kids got in on the festivities, singing and dancing onstage, much to the delight of friends such as director Michel Gondry and producer Mario Caldato Jr.. Later in the evening, model Devon Aoki and artist Piero Golia were spotted at the after-party on the roof, andParenthood costars Sam Jaeger and Erika Christensen lounged nearby. If you missed Seu Jorge’s tour this time around, fear not. The musician isn’t headed back to Brazil just yet. With plans to stay in Los Angeles for at least another month, Seu Jorge said, “We are so glad to be here. Now is the time to influence the world with music.”
