Fun Baby Gadget: Itzbeen
January 26th, 2010 | Babies
Itzbeen is a fantastic innovation for new moms and dads. Instead of trying to keep the pace of your new born baby with your sleep deprived memory, Itzbeen is a multipurpose nursery tool that helps new parents remember the basic details of baby care. Itzbeen has 4 timers that can tell how long “its been” since you’ve last changed your baby’s diaper, feed your baby, how long your baby has been asleep of awake and an extra timer for miscellaneous. It comes in 3 colors that would match any nursery: pink, blue and green. Itzbeen retails at 24.99 and makes a great baby shower gift. – THE WIFE

I assure you, as a mom of a young baby, this gadget is beyond useless. The one we got as a baby shower gift was used for maybe 13 hours. Programming when stuff gets done impedes on valuable seconds of sleep. All you need is a safety pin on your bra to remind you which side you fed the baby from last and a stock of snacks for mom & dad. I assure you, no one is going to forget to change or burp the baby.
You must be kidding. I am a working Mom (gasp!) and I knew my babies well enough to tell what their cries meant and even when they were wet (what exactly is wrong with *checking* if they're wet and what good is a timer in that situation?!). So a stay at home mom devoted to her kids' welfare should rely on a machine to do it for her? And while I'm on it, I might mention that I can also keep track of time outs without paying $25 for an electric alarm to help my kids sit down. Enough with the useless and expensive devices and more with actually paying attention to the kids.
