In April this year Maison Martin Margiela will be resurrecting its fine jewelry division with The Heritage Collection. The reprised collection will be made up of “heirloom pieces with a twist.” Margiela is a brand that prides its self on the avant-garde, so their designers are taking classic jewelry designs and uniquely making them their own with four specific themes: Solitaire, Pompadour, Alliance, and Chevalière.
Chevalière uses the inspiration behind the classic signet ring, which is cut down the middle and used as an 18k yellow gold ring and also enlarged as a bracelet. Alliance is taken from the traditional wedding band, the series is pave bands split outward making a beautiful abstraction of familial design. Pompadour uses deconstructed diamonds and Ceylon sapphires to create a double ring designed to be worn on two fingers. Solitaire features a diamond that appears to be split, but is actually twin half-moon 0.5 carat stones paired on opposite ends of a twisted ring.
To make their signature gold jewelry Margiela has gone in-house all the way, seeking out its very own accessories studio in Paris, production out of France and sourcing stones from the diamond traders of Antwerp, where Margiela was famously schooled.
The Heritage Collection is expected in Maison Martin Margiela stores, Selfridge’s and Barney’s New York in early April, Price points will start at $680.00 and go to $27,200.00. -Taryn Cox for THE WIFE in collaboration with LoveGold.com
