August can be miserable from the sweltering heat, making days spent by the pool or beach is a MUST. While THE WIFE’s™ Summer tan is bound to fade, we want to make sure the color in your expensive swimwear does not. With sunscreen, deodorant, and chlorine working against you, we looked to The Laundress for step by step instructions on how to care for your family’s summer swimwear. -Taryn Cox for THE WIFE™
- Swimwear materials react badly to pool chemicals and heat from the sun, so it’s important to always rinse your swimwear with fresh water to avoid bacteria from setting in.
- Pretreat stains with the Wash & Stain Bar, working it into the fabric, underwire, and straps.
- You only want to hand wash swimwear as washing machines can agitate delicate swimsuits, causing the material to stretch out.
- Fix a sink with warm water (never hot water) and 1 capful of Sport Detergent (standard laundry detergent can be to harsh) and submerge your suit.
- Create a mini whirlpool by agitating the water with your hands and leave to soak for 30 minutes.
- Rinse the suit well under the faucet while gently squeezing out water. Avoid ringing or twisting which can cause sagging in the wrong places.
- Lay flat to dry. To ensure your suit lasts more than just one season, steer clear of the dryer! The heat will reduce elasticity and damage the fabric. -The Laundress for THE WIFE
