THE WIFE in London: Osea Island

All Summer in London there were quiet murmurings of a mystery island in England where socialites, celebrities and the jetset went for wild weekends away. The mysterious destination in question…. Osea Island, which has hosted 5 exclusive events over the last few months. Luckily I was one of the selected few that received an invite to experience the island for myself. My invite came in mid June along with 80 other guests. Our host for the weekend was Music Producer, Nigel Frieda, owner of the 400 acre island which is just a few miles from the town of Maldon, in the middle of Essex’s Blackwater Estuary. Getting there can be quite tricky, as you can only access the private island during a small window, twice a day when the tide is low. The Captain’s House along with the Manor House are the property’s largest for accommodations, but keep company with 17 other beach cottages scattered around the island.

Saturday kicked off with a huge welcome dinner followed by “a surprise in the woods.” The surprise turned out to be a massive dance party in the island’s clubhouse. Imagine a mini rave in the middle of the woods, on an island during Summer Solstice. When the moon is the brightest and fullest it will ever be during the year. MAJOR FUN was had and went on until the wee hours of dawn. Around 5:00 am local campers wandered over to decorate our faces with neon orange face paint. Those of us not in bed with a hang over from hell, ventured out for a long nature walk around the island Sunday afternoon before departing back to the city.

 Osea has built up the ultimate reputation this Summer, especially since it is inaccessible to outsiders and pesky paparazzi. Future plans for this new hot spot include bringing a food or music festival to the island next year.
